Do I have to have a permit for coturnix quail in missouri? I have seen the sticky and emailed the office for my state but while waiting for reply I was wondering if anyone from mo can give me an idea of what I need for keeping them. Thanks.

WOW KRISTI YOUR STATE DOESNT SHOW SQUAT IN THEIR ONLINE WEB SITES DO THEY? I LOOKED IN CONSERVATION AND DNR--- BOTH PRETTY MUCH USELESS

BEST IDEA I CAN GIVE YOU IS TO CALL THEM DIRECTLY

I can't really figure anything out by the websites either. I did send an email though and will hopefully get a response. Until then any help fellow Missourians could give me would be appreciated.

Thanks for trying JJMR

Defiantly call your state DNR to make sure!
Most of the 52 states

consider coturnix as simple poultry. If you want to raise them for release...which I do not recommend, (permits many, money more). Then please check with your states DNR.

The last thing you want is being tagged in a facebook pic. with an M16 being pressed into your brain stem....I mean really...It hurts!

Please check with your local DNR, abide by all local, state and federal laws, then set it and forget it

UNFORTUNATELY MOST DNR/ FISH AND GAME OFFICERS DONT POSESS A SENSE OF HUMOR WHILE ON THE CLOCK. AND FOR WHATEVER REASON FISH AND GAME VIOATIONS ARE MORE SERIOUS IN COURT THAN RAPE/ MURDER CASES--- SAD BUT TRUE AND ABSOLUTELY TWISTED IN REALITY, BUT SUCH IS OUR WORLD...

The fish and game guy I contacted said there is no federal law for our state requiring a permit. I definitely don't want to release any, just raising them for meat. I guess I need to contact the state officials for state laws. However a fellow bycer from Mo said we do not have to have one. I will double check to be sure though.

Definitey don't want any guns on my head. lol

Yup, they have no since of humor at all!

Always check for yourself...the "I know a guy" argument will not help you when your face down in the mud, against the greatest law enforcement official on the face of the planet! Better safe than sorry, I always say

THERE ARE NO FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR COTURNIX. BUT EACH STATE IS DIFFERENT. IT WOULD BE NICE IF IT WAS A NATIONAL SORT OF THING THEN IT WOULD BE THE SAME ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND WE WOULDNT HAVE ALL THESE QUESTIONS

They are a little more tolerant of those who don't know/pretend not to know English in Tennessee. They can read you your rights in Spanish if you like...
