Hi BYC community, I've looked over all the posts and cannot find anything similar.
My 1 year old Buff Orpington has been symptomatic. Listless, pale feathers, low appetite, comb down (sometimes pale and sometimes purple), foul smelling diahrrea that changes from pasty yellow to gray. No mites, injuries, crop is ok, eyes and nose are clear, not laying but also not impacted from what I can tell . She has lost weight too. I feed all the flock clean water with ACV, yogurt, buttermilk, garlic with probiotics every morning and their layena crumbles. They are free range. No other chicken with symptoms. I put her on Sulmet for 6 days and she got better. But a week later and she is showing same symptoms again. I also wormed her but nothing. It has been hot here, 95f, but mornings are cool and she still isn't well. I did notice her belly turned dark red, but was not swollen like water belly. I gave her dunk in tub to cool her off but didn't stop symptoms. We have just noticed evidence of rats near run. But she has been sick off and on for two weeks. So I don't think it's Salmonella. Any ideas? All suggestions welcomed! I don't know how to help her ! ( her name is Pumpkin and I used a picture of her before she got sick as my avatar). She was top if pecking order and now hides from the flock.
