I can't say I have any real desire to actually meet anyone, but to sit and listen to them talk . . . lovely. I had the pleasure of attending a lecture by Stephen Hawking, and I would give the whole right side of my face to have been around to see Mark Twain speak. A dinner party with Oscar Wilde attending would be a treat, or to hang out in the background as someone like Charles Darwin or Carl Sagan talked to colleagues. And I'd love to hear Benjamin Franklin talk to anyone else about anything.
Meeting people implies there may be nothing more to gain than a courteous greeting and farewell, but give me a chance to hover virtually unnoticed in the background and I will jump on it ravenously.
