Hi Ive decided to keep chickens and I've got a 6 hen coop and I was wondering which breed/s you all suggest for me and why

I love my silkies but they are a bugger for going broody really like the look of brahmas what ones have you got?

Well my ones are quite infrequent layers because the go broody quite often, it's good because I've had a great success rate with my silkies hatching their own without an incubator but then again it's a pain when you just want eggs but no chicks. I've heard silkies are very friendly I only have experience of mine and my toddler loves them check my pics in my profile.

I'm relatively new to raising chickens and have only experience with a few breeds. I can suggest what not to get. Do not get Leghorns. They are very high strunge, edgy, and live up to the name "chicken".

Personally, if I started all over again today I would go with Wyandottes and Rhode Island Reds. The Wyandottes come in many color varieties and are just overall nice looking with great dispositions, super sweet hens. Some will go broody, some don't. They are pretty decent layers. Now RIR are beautiful birds that double as superb layers of brown eggs. They have a friendly disposition as well and in my experience, are quite the curious lot.

Great hens mate, which breeds are the black ones and whereabouts u based coz I thought I saw Yorkshire stone walls?

I really like the look and sound of those wyandottes, I could maybe get some wyandottes, silkies and other breeds

I'm from Aberdeen Scotland yourself? The black and white are silver spangled hamburgs very flighty I have one that's so friendly it flies out the coop comes to my back door and knocks till I come out with grain lol the other two like to keep themselves to the flock.
