Personal opinions on favourite breed and why, please comment so I can have a idea of which is best

I love my frizzle and sizzle hens. They are a lot of fun, very neat looking, and pretty good layers of small eggs. They do go broody, though, so if you don't want chicks that could be a problem.
This is Pixie, my sizzle hen with my mottled bantam cochin rooster to the side of her:
They are lovely hens aren't they, how much did you buy those for? And where, what colour are the eggs?

Personally, I like bantams the best. They are smaller and eat less. I can get 15 bantams, maybe more, vs. 9 standard chickens. Bantams are just so adorable and such great eye candy. I have bantam cochins, frizzles, and sizzles. I love the look and mellowness of bantam cochins. I really like the fun and uniqueness of the frizzles and sizzles. The only bad thing about bantams is that a lot of the hens will go broody. If you don't want more chicks, that can be a problem.

Yes, they are lovely. I paid $15 for Pixie, but I'm in the United States, Arkansas to be exact. I don't know what the price would be for them in Scotland. She lays pretty little white eggs. Tinker, a frizzled hen I used to have, laid pretty cream colored eggs.

You should definitely Buff orpingtons. They are soo sweet! Very cuddly and very docile. Also silkies have the same characteristics and are soo fun to watch as well. I dont know if its just me or they are all like this but.. I havent had much luck with RIR. They seem to be mean lil chickens.. even the roo He is about 5 months old.. and very feisty.. Frizzles are very docile as well. But so far they are tiny at 5 months.

I like the bantams best for pets, handling and laying except for small eggs. I do not like the Rhode Island pure breds, but a hen that is part Rhode Island Red and bantam that I have is wonderful! Silkies are fun and lovable. Bantam cochins tend to have the frizzle gene...you can try those., Seem to have good dispositions. Americaunas are great too and lay medium to large colored eggs...usually green or blue. Trick is to hold them often as chicks and let them get to know you. Makes it easier to catch them to put them up at night! Make sure they have a place to be safe at night from predators!

You didn't say what you are looking for in a chicken. The silkies are great! I have some Silkie eggs in the bator now! But the eggs are very small! I am really liking the Polish crested! They lay medium eggs..and I say I get 5 eggs a week from each hen. And they really don't eat much and are comical to watch. Go on the breeds on BYC and read about each breed and see what ones suit you best. Good Luck and pet us know what you get!

I have recently purchased land I have now have enough room for 6 6 hen coops so I could have every coop with different breeds in each can anyone suggest which six breeds of hen I should have and why? P.s thanks for all the replies

Thanks! Gonna have a look at them all now, will let u know which ones I decide to get but I need to be influenced be other people lol

My sex links have the most personalities by far, and they are SO friendly. They haven't stated laying yet but are suppose to be magnificent layers. Plus, its impossible to get a rooster if you don't want one because they are sexed by their color.
I also have a Russian orloff chick right now that is very sweet and just beautiful.
The only breed I have discovered that I am not really a fan of is wyondottes. They are beautiful but all of mine have been flighty and bitey. However, many people LOVE this breed. You just have to take everything with a grain of salt.
