My chickens are 9 weeks old, and whatever they do, they go do it together.

Currently they have three big perches that they either all use at once or don’t use at all.

When do they start wanting personal space? I’m planing on building some extra “playground structures” for their run, but would like to delay it until they actually need it it.

For me, they stay together for a pretty long time. My chicks are 18 weeks old and they still do that, but at about 17 weeks old they start to blend a little bit more with the other chickens. As in sleep together on the same pole.

Why not build it now? Even if they do everything together, if you give them different options they'll probably split up a bit to explore.

I’m procrastinating, lol. They have other activities, they free range part of the day, and I shovel a bin of leaf litter into their pen everyday. They have perches and stuff as well. I just didn’t want to make something that is essentially more perching space if I don’t need to for now. They also have some big boxes they can go under if they want, but I’ve never seen them use it. They’re busy ... for now!
