I got a small tank at a welding gas supply in town, it lasts a long time. I have a shoe box with a small hole where we run the hose to fill the box with the gas, I also cut small door in the box so I can transfer the sparrows from the trap. You have to be careful when you have several birds because some of them can escape (it has happened to me several times). The door has a flap that can be taped back every time you place a bird inside.
I used to put some of the trapped birds in a bird cage until I got several but I think it is better to handle few at a time. It pains me to do this because they are living creatures but the way I deal with this is thinking about all the native baby birds they kill to still their nests and all the deceases they carry that can get to my chickens.
