If you live with chickens and you have tons of pesky chipmunks here are some easy and effective methods.
I have a few humane traps and a few kill traps.
The first and most humane option is to purchase a Harvart chipmunk trap.if you have a larger one of these laying around for raccoons or squirrels, the holes on those are two big. Chipmunk traps can be a bit pricey ranging from $20-$40, but they defiantly get the job done. Now if you don't want to pay for a trap get a plastic storage bin, big or small. Place the lid to the bin directly over the bucket so when you catch the critter its already sealed. Now prop the bin open with a small stick.Tie string around the stick and sit far away. But put some bait on the lid, peanut butter, oranges, and chocolate work best. Sit Far away with the string and as soon as the chipmunk is drawn into the bucket, pull the string and he's trapped. You can also set up the bucket trap but using a taller stick in the middle of the bin with peanut butter and birdseed on it so when the chipmunk reaches up for the bait, the storage bin topples over. Take him to a park or field to release. Next is a kill trap get a bucket fill 3/4 of the way. Get a stick and lean it on the bucket for the chipmunk to walk up. Make sure you place the stick with stick reaching above the water and bucket so when the chipmunk walks purge baited stick he gets to the tip and he's to heavy so it falls in the bucket of water. Throw some bird seed on top of the water so they don't realize it's water. They fall in and drown within a half hour. The next one is also a kill trap. It's called a figure four trap.
This next one takes more effort and I'm not really sure how to explain it so YouTube figure four chipmunk trap setup. BB guns aren't usaly strong enough to kill, but usaly jut scare and stun. Thx for reading and remember to scout the areas and place your traps there for the best possible outcomes.
