Went out to feed my chickens and there is dust everywere. I opened my bag of feed and on the outside of the bag there is always dust. Well today the dust was moving. Tiny white bugs moving all over the bag. I have seen pictures of lice and I don't think its that. They are nowhere else but the bag as far as I know. Dust mites maybe? Wife is affraid I will bring them ion the house. Help.

Quote:Most likely weevils. Happens a lot this time of year, and is bad for the feed, therefore for the birds--reduces the nutritional value significantly. If it is a new bag, take back to store, if an older one, you need to rethink your feed storage. Yes, they can infest food products in the house.

What you are describing sounds more like grain mites. Weevils are darker in coloration. You can look at google images to be sure. I agree though, neither are good for the feed quality.
