Well what do you consider "good size"? Dont know of any snakes in the wild in the US that can eat a full grown chicken. Unless someones pet escaped.

Not a dog, but it looks like a dog drooled on them. It happens at night when they are in their house. The house is sealed up good and there is chicken wire over all the small holes. Do snakes "spit out" animals they can't swallow? If it was a rat, wouldn't it chew up the chicken?

Don't know who's bothering your chickens.

But I have had raccoon problems. They got in where I thought it was impossible for a predator to get in and killed a pullets Must have pulled it out piece by piece.

We bought a big live trap and trapped 3 raccoons. Released them 5 miles away. I see no more evidence of marauders now.

Go to your local feed store and get yourself a trap.

Possibly snakes. I lost 2 quail in 1 nite. Feathers on face & neck to the shoulders were wet & flattened against their skin. If the bird is too big to swallow they spit it out. By then it's dead. Snakes can squeeze in thru an opening smaller than you'd think. My cage had 1" wire for rabbits. It was too big. My mom who had chickens as a child recognized what had happened. I'm sorry for your loss.
