We have had a complaint from a neighbor who with this warmer weather has opened windows and now can hear our little bantam rooster crowing. Roosters are allowed where we live, so we have no choice but to rehome Buckbeak (Beaky, for short).
This breaks our hearts, because Beaky is a sweet, smart, beautiful Old English Game Bantam/Serama hybrid, and the tamest of our little flock of five bantams that we raised from chicks last spring. Hes so tame that you can easily pick him up, and he will also fly up and perch on an outstretched arm. Hes a good, gentle mate to our four tiny hens. He himself is very small, just less than two pounds. Hes a beautiful, rich, reddish pumpkin color, with a high fan tail with black tipped feathers that he holds proudly. Here's a link to his picture:

Hes very smart and trainable. Hes learned my signal for when its time to lead the flock back into their pen after free ranging in the yard. And we began trick training him to peck the Ace of Hearts out of a deck of cards; he picked this trick up in only a few minutes of training. If someone wants to train a bird to do tricks, Beaky would be a great bird to work with.
Hes a pet, so I would only want to rehome him to someone who also wants to keep him as a pet. We have a hen named Martha, also an OEGB/Serama hybrid, who we are willing to rehome with Beaky if someone wants a matched pair of bantams. She is not as tame as Beaky, but you can pick her up and she will come to you if you have treats to offer. She and Beaky could raise you a clutch of adorable chicks this spring without the bother of setting up an artificial brooder.
If you're interested, send me an email. Thanks!
P.S. Please ignore the "buy it now" button. This isn't an auction or sale. These birds are free, but only to a good home. Thanks again.
