Well I know what your thinking carpenter bees are pests not pets! Yes that is true but, they have a purpose on earth. They pollinate flowers, fruit trees, etc. Last year in the summer I come across a little carpenter bee. Its wings were damaged and it couldn't fly. I couldn't just let it die. So... I made it a little house, sugar water, and picked many flowers each day for her to drink. Then I gave her a name Sally. Sally lived a happy little life until one day my cousin came over and squished her. He is now banned from going on my property. I commanded Johnny Cash my silkie roo chase him around the yard. Well now nearly a year later I found another carpenter bee whose wings were injured. I took him in gave him sugar water and with the help of my cousin (not the same one that killed Sally) built a lego castle. His name is Buzz hopefully he will live a bit longer.

I love carpenter bees! The gentle giants of the bee world!!! Is it true they don't have stingers?
I love the big black ones the best but your bee is so cute and looks like they are having lots of fun in their playground.

Females have stingers. Males don't. Females have a all black face. Males have a white face.

Cute. The only thing I have against Carpenter Bees are how quickly they can destroy a wooden structure. Those big holes they drill can really do damage to a barn. I like photographing them.
