Hi there. I need help. Our pet chicken was attacked by our puppy who pretty much pulled the skin and feathers off of her neck, 3 days ago. There are no avian vets in our area and so I am asking for advice on here.
Immediately after the attack we administered CPR to clean the wound. Covered the exposed skin and Wrapped her neck fully. She chirps, clucks and eats and drinks with vigor, however, she can't seem to control her motor functions. She hops backwards or up until she hurts herself... pretty much spazzes out. Do you think she suffered a neurological injury and thus won't recover? I have her secluded and hand feed her food and water.

Can you post a clear picture of exactly how she is wrapped up now and then...
Take the wrap off and get a clear picture of the wound that you had wrapped up?

It is usually best to not wrap something that involves the neck.

Do you think having her neck wrapped is what is making her spaz out? The wound is to open and raw to leave it unwrapped.

I would NOT wrap her back up.

I would put her in a dog kennel or a cage and keep her inside by herself until she heals.

Is she eating chicken feed?

Can you get a few more pictures of the wound.

I'm having a hard time tell what's going on in this one picture.

It's easy enough to check: leave the wrap off for a bit and watch her. If she can eat, drink, and move around normally with no wrap, then the wrap was probably the thing causing her to spaz out.
