I'd keep the chicken inside and separated, apply Neosporin and leave it open to the air. I've been amazed at the kinds of wounds that my chickens have survived.

I've also been pretty impressed at the stuff I've survived but those are stories for a different forum.

Holding it up to her mouth is a good idea, if that seems to be the only way she will eat & drink, but I would definitely leave a food dish and a water dish in the cage, so she can eat and drink on her own as soon as she decides she can.
