Pet goat?

goats do not make ggod pets unless your on a farm like i am.the reason why is goats eat anything and certain type of indoor stuff can seriously injury or kill the goats and some flowers will kill goats.we use to let our goats out of the pasture and one went to the garden and ate some kind of flower and the next day past away,if you do get a goat and bottle feed it dont get a buck, i have bottle feed lots of goats and the bucks will usually turn aganst you.i had one bottle baby that almost serously injuryed my grandad.if you get a goat and it shows signs of aggresion get rid of it fast.even a little pygmy goat can hurt you.i had a friemd that had some and his pygmy goat busted his knee calp,he also needed surrgery.so be careful around them

goats smell like goats but teenage boys smell like cheetos and armpits.

Hey-- did anyone stop to consider that if you get goats, you'll need someone pretty special to take care of them if you ever want to go on vacation? My chickens can be self sufficient (two is a manageable number) and the dogs can ride along on a road trip, but what will you do with your goats if you want to visit friends out of town or if you win a cruise ship trip?

PS: look at petfinder.com --- there are a lot of people that have taken on goats because they thought it would be fun, and then realized that they're not what they imagined and then dumped them off at a local animal shelter... there are some lovely goats out there that need homes... adopt a homeless shelter goat!

If you have a milking doe it is a little more tricky, as the person needs to be able to milk. Buuuuut, you can get around that again, by keeping the kids on the doe as long as possible. When you want milk, separate the kids at night and milk her in the morning. If you are going away, leave kids with mum and they will do the milking for you, all the looker-er after-er has to do is give her some hay and some grain in a bowl. No more difficult than a dog.

Aaaand, if you dont have someone coming daily to feed, you can get a large bale of hay and just leave it in the paddock, the goats will feed themselves.

Um Goats are actually very clean animals if given a clean area. They do NOT stink unless they are bucks, or if they have to lay in their mess.

And actually, they are very easy to take care of. My 9 eat pasture full time except in winter. Even then you just throw them a flake of hay, or a little grain. And some clean water.

And who says you can't take your goat with you places? Mine goes everywhere!

She rides very well in the car thank you.


And you can have goats if you don't have a farm. I lived in a neighborhood, and was surrounded by houses. And my first pet goat lived in the house/garadge. And went outside just like my dog. She never left the yard. All we did was leave the back door open.

I love it when I go out to my garden and I am followed by a herd of goats and a flock of chickens. Oh, and ducks.Lots of ducks. I feel like Dr. Doolittle sometimes, but it's so cool. I grew up in the city and lived there all my life. Now I am hugging goats in the morning before coffee. You never know where lilfe will take you.
