Hello all,

I have 2 pet Muscovy Ducks, Kitty Cat (8.5 weeks) and Puppy Dog (6.5 weeks).
They sleep in their box at night, and during the day they are outside with me in the backyard or at law school with me.

Can you tell me if they are male or female? I got both of them sexed so i would end up with females, but as time goes by my fear that Kitty Cat (older one) might be a male has been growing.
Please check the pictures out and I would appreciate your experienced opinions! I have videos that better show their size & shape but apparently the website won’t allow me to upload them. The one with the big black mark on her head is Puppy Dog, and the few dots on her head is Kitty Cat.

It is too young to tell by looking at them, looks like their wing feathers have not fully came in yet. Wait a while and then show us again. The drakes will develop their caruncles much sooner than the hens.

The drakes look a lot different than hens once they have matured. Drakes get their caruncles before hens do. If you do have a drake & hen that is alright, any reason why you don't want a drake?
Ive heard that drakes can get aggressive... also the fact that they don’t lay eggs is definitely a minus.

Drakes are aggressive with other drakes, I have never had a drake who was mean to humans. Hens are also bird aggressive, my hen beat up my Leghorn Rooster. My pied drake is very friendly, he follows me and will nibble on my hand or my boot. Muscovy ducks are not good egg layers, i'm lucky to get 80 eggs a year from my hen, although I am in a very cold climate. Also, if he is a drake you could let your hen hatch out some eggs if you wanted. I assume she is a hen if she was vent sexed by the hatchery.

The one with the black on top... looks like fancy did when he was growing in feathers and is possibly a male as he looks bigger than the other. Like speedy and fancy did at that age. 20170828_214934.jpg
Fancy is the yellow/brown one and speedy the other... it looks like yours bonded already, and it would be heartbreaking to seperate them now. Fancy gets a lil rough with me because hes hormonal, but I'm figuring out that when i come home and it looks like he wants to take a chunk outta my leg, if hes wagging his tail at me and i dont pick him up for a hug thats when he does. Its like oh you rejected me, i bite you for ignoring me. Spoiled brat that he is.

I knew they weren’t going to be reliable layers - but 80 eggs a year beats 0 eggs a year, right?
