Pet Peeves

I remember being horrified as a kid when I visited family in Washington State. The other kids called the adults by their first names!
My kids call all their aunts and uncles by first name only. No idea how that happened because I always refer to them as "Uncle" or "Auntie" so-in-so.
None of the aunts and uncles mind so I just left it.

Had 3 odd guys do just that over the years. I had 2 large Rottweilers at that time. Those dudes didn't come back after they saw my dogs. If given opportunity, Niki & Herc may have ran towards them with intention to play...but strangers don't know that. They just see a dog that weighs more than the gal they stalked & go on their sick minded, merry way.

Betting I won't. We use ma'am and sir here. She calls me ma'am, too.
How about when talking to someone over the phone a few times...then when you meet in person, you realize the Gerry you've been addressing as a Ma'am is really a Jerry that should be called Sir! 😆 So embarrassing!
But why not correct the caller during the 1st phone call?
Also, just as embarrassing, thinking that gruff, whiskey voice was a he, instead of a she.
If you don't know for sure, if it's a he or a she.. what do you say?
Hey You? 😆 🤣 😂

Guessing the correct pronoun is a shot in the dark nowadays. It used to be 2 now its like 13 or something. Makes your odds alot worse

I'm guilty as charged, but hear me out:

People replying to threads with complete and utter nonsense that has nothing to do with the topic. Random crap-posting. This isn't limited to BYC, either.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not innocent - I was online during the 2000s', when being completely random was considered high comedy amongst tweens, but it's downright embarrassing to see older teens or even twenty-somethings behaving this way today. It isn't 'Gen Z humor.' It's called being an idiot.
I don't know...maybe I have ADD, but I kinda like random ramblings & how the conversations evolve. Plus, there's a lot of humor here. I love laughing. Look how we just talked about toilet paper dispensers, bacon, groundhog holes, pig poop & stalkers! Gotta laugh! 😆 🤣 😂

Right!?
Want to be as respectful & tasteful as possible...but basically, we are down to "He, She or It" & any way ya say it, someone will be offended. 😆
