The one that gets me is "disassociative". That word doesn't exist. It's "dissociative". Same for "incidences" which is very rarely correct. "Incidents" is usually the correct word.My DH says Illinoise. Pronouncing the S! (My toes are curling as I write this, lol!)The Catholic nuns in my elementary school really beat that sort of thng out of us! Along wth Lie-berry, of course.
But the one that actually gets a physical reaction out of me is: co-conspirator. It curls my toes, makes me shudder, and I actually yelp when I hear it! I can't help it! You even hear it on the news from people who should know better.![]()
Something I recently learned to help me remember the correct use of "affect" versus "effect".
Affect = verb
Effect = noun
And just because...I live near the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant, which is not pronounced "New-cue-ler" despite what "W" says.
