When I do say Roo, I'm talking about my Roosters. 1 sweet boy is called Baby Roo. I went to this guy's place intending to get 2 Ameracauna hens. His birds were overcrowded & traumatized, a total mud hole enclosure, with older chickens chasing, pecking & plucking younger chickens bald. I ended up taking 12 of them, the bald, traumatized ones, just to get them the heck out of there. The youngest was a cockerel, and when I got him, he curled up in a ball, on my lap, shivering & whimpering. I drove home with him snuggled against me & my sweatshirt. I said, you poor baby Roo, I will take care of you buddy.

It took 2 months for all 12 to become calm & grow beautiful feathers back. Baby Roo...the name stuck. He is the sweetest, most loving creature I've ever been blessed with. He never forgot how I rescued him from that place. He has a distinct voice & still makes lovey dovey sounds as soon as he sees me. He crows to me when I drive in from work. He will jump up & snuggle the moment I sit down. Love my Baby Roo!

I had a rooster named Roux (because both are the base for a good gravy ). He was a pretty boy and a good flock leader.
