Does anyone else only handwash knives?
My husband is particular about it and doesn't want them in the dishwasher because it's not good for them.
Yes, the big knives get handwashed because they would get knocked about and made dull. But the little steak knives go in the little individual slots, they're safe enough.

Ideally, yes.
Especially if you have some of the high $$$$ ones. Cut, wipe, store.
for various reasons. Safety one, and durability of the blades another.
 
My "good" knife gets hand washed; it's big and sharp. My favorite little knife gets hand washed because it's my favorite little knife.

It was my mom's, and her favorite too. I asked her why, and she said she liked how it fit her hand. Now it's mine, and it's my favorite because I like how it fits my hand.

Not butter knives but I hand wash my paring and steak knives

Some knives are more equal than others.
