Pet Rooster

[Hen Feathers]

I have tried to rehome my pet rooster. No one wants him. I'm afraid someone will complain about him.

Would culling him be easy for me? He is the nicest, most sweet rooster I have ever known. I don't know what to do.

Go to your local farmers market. If there is someone there selling eggs, ask them if they take roosters. That is how I re-homed mine.

I had the same concerns about my rooster as he was growing up. Do you have to get rid of him due to an ordinance or only because you're afraid of complaints? I understand everyone is different and you have to do what you feel is best for you... I am glad I waited it out because my rooster is very well behaved (knock on wood) so far. He gives the girls treats and leads them to the coop when they have to lay an egg (they free range). I had to bandage his foot up today and he was so good about it. Good luck with your situation and hope everything works out.

Have you tried CraigsList? I see cheap and free roosters all the time in my area. A picture in the add would help you.

There was a pretty heated conversation about dogs and dog shooting on that blog and harsh words were exchanged...really reminds me how polite and courteous most BYC'ers are!
