Pet Turkey's?

Thanks to you service people for your devotion to our wonderful country. I am a widow of a service member. He died in 2004 on his way to Iraq. Your familys are VERY special people also to loan someone they love as they did yall.

Any how!.....I hatched 4 turkies a month ago with the intention using them for the holidays. And now I am sure that they may be at the table, but as a guest not as the food....LOL They are the most adorable creatures that ever was. Theres nothing about loving Gods creatures enought to have as pets.

In September I will be getting more eggs (turkeys) and hatching more. And I am sure that they will be pets also....LOL

A neighbor of mine has Bourbon reds (at least, I think that's what they are - beautiful red color with white trim...). Do turkeys have a set breeding season, or do you think I can beg him for a poult or two at any time?

I guess I'd just have to name a bourbon red Whiskey, huh?
lol

What a cute little poult! And he struts for his bunny! HILARIOUS! I've got a blue slate, and a royal palm, and I just love them. Just recently found out that both are toms. They seem to like eachother, and I've been told as long as I don't have any turkey hens around, they will get along just fine. I sure hope so.

They're just such a pleasure to watch. And I love the noises they make.

Can someone tell me what kind of turkey's these are? The light brown and white one is a female the other is her mate. I got them today at a swap meet. I asked what kind and put it in my phone and my phone died and I lost my information. I looked at a lot of breeds and just can not remember if you need a better photo I can get one in the morning.
The seller said they were really tame. The are in with my goats and my 2 runner ducks. They have blue heads and necks. They talk a lot and I love the sound they make. I would just like to know what kind they are so I can read up on how to care for them I am not wanting to eat them I would like them to stay as pets. Any info would be great thanks

Fowllover92, I am so sorry for the loss of your baby. I feel the same way about my "Avis". I would be sick if I lost him...................
I have a five month old BBW that I am raising as a pet. He is also a "therapy" bird for me. I am struggling to find anything on the internet about a food diet for a "pet" turkey. He is getting far too large with the pellets that I can find here. Could you please point me in the direction of a healthy pet turkey diet or home recipes? Thank you so much! And an approximate amount I should be feeding him. I am currently giving him one 3/4 cup scoop in the evening and morning of the pellets.

My Avis was about four months old before he started growing his beard and strutting. My husband swore he was a Tom at about two months old because when he got mad *the turkey, not my husband* he he! his head would turn bright red!

Mine are like dogs to me, I'm not raising them to kill and eat. Could somebody tell me how to resitrict thier diet,I leave 20% crumbles for them to eat whenever they want and scatter 5 grain scratch twice a day. I have 2 easterns 4 months old, 1 new holland 7 months old, 2 black spanishs, 1 slate, 1 slate burbon mix and one rooster mixed with em.
Hate they wont roost in the coops I made for them they wanna roost outside afraid they're getting cold. Didnt mean to I hijack post but thanks for any help.
