Signatures from total strangers in other cities, counties and states will not sway your town council. You need to get signatures from folks in your town if you intend to change the rules of your town. I wish you luck. IMO, it should be the right of every property owner to keep a small flock and a garden.

If I were you, I'd go to those farmers and ask them for their support. They'll probably have a large list of local connections and can help you get the (local) signatures and support you'll need.

They'll also likely have or have had chickens and personally know the benefits.

I realize local support will be important.

I also think that if I can show general public support for the issue as well, it could go a long way!
