They will come running to you as soon as they see you. Get them used to eating out of your hand and that will make a big difference. With that said, DO NOT do any of that with a rooster (cockerel). If you plan to have a rooster in your flock, when his hormones kick in, he needs to fear you or he will dominate you. If no roo, go for it.

That sounds like a nightmare.

How big should chicks be 2 move them into the coop?

Mine are going out as soon as they feather. Theyre going to be too big for my brooder by then. As long as its pretty predator proof i think theyre okd enough

Also, not a bad idea to have chicken yard shoes at the entrance of the yard. We keep our chicken shoes there and don't wear them other places.

They should be big enough. I moved mine in at five, and at first there was a little "fighting" but it was expected. If you have older hens in your coop, try distracting them by giving them something to eat like watermelon or food scraps. It will take your two chicks a few days to get used to the coop, and if you have nesting boxes with a top on it, you will find them there if they can stand on them. Again, it will take your chicks a few days to get used to a new coop. Manually placing them in it will help them figure out where to go.
