Pharoh Quail help?

Does anyone know about pharoh Quail. I just bought two from an aution.

They are coturnix quail, or japanese quail. Same thing, 3 different names. Pharoah is often the name associated with the normal sized browns, but for those not 'in the loop', pharoah can mean any brown coturnix quail.

they lay lots of eggs, are very personable birds, the males (and sometimes the females) are very talkative, and they are fairly easy to take care of with a minimal amount of maintenance for just a piar. hope they work out for you

pharaohs are more skiddish when compaired to their jumbo siblings

The male is sorda skiddish but the female is really sweet. I just reach in the cage and pick her up.

The male had no spots on his chest and the female does.

Can u tell how old they r?

Pharaoh is suposed to be only the wild brown counter part. Not the jumbo. Pharaoh was the birds FIRST brought over. People calling all brown coturnix pharaoh are not researching well enough.

edit to add, many people also call coturnix "courtnix" doesnt make it correct

Theres really no way to tell if they are older than that. Long toenails and long beaks could be a sign of old age. If the male isnt crowing yet, and doesnt have a swollen upper vent gland then he's below 6 weeks of age and more than likely so is the hen. You need ot get yourself some more hens i'd deffinatly reccomend that. They aren't like button quails, and do better in a little bit of a bigger group to keep the hen sane and not ripped up. Unless your roo is calm and docile with his gal then you may not need more. Just watch them carefully.

Can u kinda describe the crow. they both make this kinda cute little noise like a cricket.
