Hi everybody, I have got 4 pheasant chicks some 10 days old. After a month one of them got its legs splayed.I tried much but of no vain. Then after a month its both legs stretched out and it could not walk so have to cull it.
Now 3 of them are about 3 months old.2 chicks have grown fine but one was weaker and suddenly one day i noticed its leg is broken from the top end i will say thigh.
Asked someone and he said its genetically due to lot of inbreeding.
Could it be cured? The two others walk normally but am afraid they have weak legs. What should be given to them.I give them poultry feed, soft bread, green vegetables, eggs and millet.

Hello,
I had a chick when I was moving them from 1 pen to another and he flew out of my hand and into a wall and broke his leg and I was worried about it because the bone was clearly broken because it was just hanging there so I moved him to a pen by himself and kept the food and water close and after about a month the bone grew back, maybe not perfect but enough to support himself and now at four months old you can't tell he even broke it.
So don't give up hope it will heal.
Good Luck,
Patty
