Pheasant Chicks!

OK, came home to boy chick waiting for me to remove him from the bator. He's good and in with the two girls and the three araucana chicks.

These pheasants are very friendly, they definitly like to cuddle and play. They remind me a bit of ducklings.

Good for you!!!!!!! We have heard all the negative stories about pheasants and so far ours are doing just fine. We took them off the heat lamp last weekend and since we couldn't find a 60 + watt red light bulb we put them under our usual clear 100 W light. No picking, or fighting. A few things we noted

Cover the brooder after about a week - they jump well
Put something bright and shiny in the feed, they see it and peck at it - we used a couple fresh quarters.

1 is missing I think they ate it or are saving it for an escape.
They drink alot
When working in the brooder move slow and don't go over them it makes them nervous
They grow like weeds

I'll get some pics tomorrow, I have to clear my card. With the photos you'll see the difference between male and female chicks. They are very sweet and tame so far.
