Hi again, it has been about 3 years since I moved and have not had chickens, so I have been away from the site. I have a trio of golden pheasants and expect eggs soon. Wonduring if I can use my chicken egg incubator and if the egg turner will work or if it needs modifying. Any tips a greatly appreciated.

Welcome back! The incubator itself should be fine, but depending on the egg size, the turners may need modifying. For some incubators you can buy or 3D print turners made for certain eggs.

I’ve tried all sorts of juryrigging trying to get various turners to fit quail eggs, it doesn’t work, just don’t try unless they are made to be adjustable or you can get something specific to your needs. I mostly hand turn with no issues, even the adjustable ones have issues at times and you need to watch them.

That was kind of my thinking, just try the turner and, if it doesn't work hand turn, but that makes it much more time consuming and I do have a job.

Appreciate the time commitment but just turn three times a day to minimize that. In the morning when you get up, when you get home, and before you go to bed.

Which egg turner do you have? If someone on here has the same model they may be able to help you. Or call the manufacturer and chat with them. They should be able to help.

It is a farm innovations 41 egg capacity that I got at tractor supply. It worked great with chicken eggs, I am assuming pheasant eggs are smaller (first time pheasant owner). If i remember right the turner came with the incubator. I like it because it has a separate cord from the incubator so when i wanted it to stop turning i just unplugged it and didn't actually take it out until eggs started hatching. I was kind of paranoid about messing with them.

I remove the turner when I go into lockdown.

I could not find anything in their online manual about adjusting for the size of pheasant eggs. I'd try to call or e-mail and ask them.

Thanks. I am not sure i will get eggs this year or if they will be fertilized. The birds are just about 1 year old and we're not in the best heath when I got them a couple of months ago. The male was smallish and was in with a larger male and some chickens. He had been bullied and was missing his whole tail and a bunch of feathers. He looks pretty good now, but may or may not get the job done. I just want to be ready,come what may. I will try to attach a pic or 2

A little update. Got these guys on December 31st, so actually almost 3 months ago. The male had no tail feathers at all. This pic was taken from the bathroom window this morning and you can really see how long and full that tail is now.
