Ok, I have a Blue Malanstic Pheasant that i hatched. Ok he is only 3half months old. sorry.

The feathers curl, like a frizzle, is this normal for a young pheasant to do that?

Will it grow out of that ? Or is it that it is a frizzled pheasant?

Have any one seen any like that?

I will go try to take some pics of it.

I can't say for sure that it is a frizz as genetics are a crazy thing. But that is ONE SWEEEEET looking pheasant.

Thank you,
I just noticed in the pics that it is getting the blue coloring in.
I wish i knew if it was a boy or a girl too. lol

pips&peeps :

I think that happens because they were too hot when the feathers were developing.

Hmmm really? Do you think they will stay like that? Or will it go away when it starts getting new feathers.

Yes Shay this is a pic of a boy.You can tell by the area around the eye.
Yes the feathers will straighten out as they grow older.
In N.H.,Tony.

deffinately a male, but are you sure it's five months old? mine are coming up on two months old and look the same (without the curls) as far as the amount of blue showing. do you have them on high protein feed?
