Pheasants mating now??

Today i saw something i never thought id see. One of our male pheasants was trying to mate with one of the females. It wasnt just pecking or chasing, it was mating. These guys arent full grown yet, they were hatched in May and they dont have their full adult colors yet. So why was he doing that? You would have thought it was spring time. In all the years we've kept pheasants ive never seen anything like it. Any ideas as to why??

I have notice our red golden and yellow goldens doing this also.

I haven't seen any mating going on in my Golden pens but I have one male who is feeling VERY, VERY good about himself. He has even started to flash at me when I go in to feed and water. I haven't seen him do this since the spring.

my red golden male is flashing and chasing his two hens around the pen today too. Huh weird!!

Maybe, but both of my golden pairs just started it and with no apparent reason. I feel bad for them though, the females just ignore them.

My Red Goldens are doing it too, I just think the hens are done laying.

Our males that are already done moulting are now showing off for the hens, the breeding season is done, but they still like to show off there new feathers.
