Pheasants

If i get a pair of yellow gold pheasants will they be okay together? from chicks or will I need to separate them?

If you got them as chicks and you bought them from the same person,they are probably related.If you can,get another from someone else and switch the males,so you will have 2 unrelated pairs.They will be fine together,and they should have been together already as they are in breeding season and should lay eggs very soon.

who's to say they aint related too. Just cause you get them from a differnt persen don't mean they aint related. Always ask for bloodlines and keep track as far back as ya can. No one seems ta give a pickle bout keepn track of the more commn stuff.

True,but the chances are better that they ain't realted.I keep record of all my birds even when they lay their first egg of the season and how many eggs they lay each year.Do you raise pheasants?What species do you raise?

and back to the thread. If ya gonna buy birds an ya new to it I would get older birds ya can tell wat your buying better. they aint that expensive. then ya buy a chick an he dies easier than an adult an ya back at squre one.

No I don't wanna tinkle match.You may raise something that I may be interested in.And I agree with buying adults.So you know exactly what you are getting.I have people ask me to sell them eggs and I try to get them to wait and buy chicks.With eggs(that are shipped)you are looking at a chance to get chicks.With chicks,you are getting chicks.You are 1 step ahead of the game.Now you have to keep them alive.Your brooder set up needs to be right 95 degrees the 1st week and drop 5 degrees every week after until feathered,then placed in a non heated pen with no drafts,Vitamins and electrolytes once a week and a good gamebird crumble feed.
