Pheonix Thread

I have a sweet little silver phoenix cockerel that needs a long-term home somewhere that allows roosters. He is 12 weeks now and was hand raised. Though he's not cuddly, he is interested in being around people. We call him Fluffball, which doesn't suit him at all! He reminds me a lot of a wild game bird, always looking for somewhere to perch high up and darting like a velociraptor through the garden. And boy can he can fly! His tail is beetle black with green iridescence and his wings have navy blue bands. We can't keep roosters, so I'm looking for a good home for him. Happy to drive to deliver him within the region!

He's a good looking roo, I hope you find a home for him!

So I took some pictures the past couple of days to keep track of the progress of my lines and thought I'd share. Any and all criticism is welcome!

These are all keepers (so far at least) from the first 2 batches of Phoenix bantams I've hatched out so far this year.

This is a solid splash cockerel from my blue line, he's about 4 1/2 months old. My only gripe about him is that his legs could be darker (they're bordeline white), but I really like the amount of secondary sickles he has, the angle of his tail, his temperament (very tame) and how leggy he is.

Blue pullet from the same line, about 5 months old

Black pullet (unfortunately w/ some red leakage due to their mother being half silver ginger), same line and age (5 months), I may or may not wind up keeping her. They'll be bred back to their father who is solid black so the leakage may not be that big of a deal, but if I can get another one without leakage in the upcoming batches i'll likely get rid of her

Khaki fibro pullet from my dun line, unfortunately she's not tame enough for a ground picture 😅

BBR fibro pullet from my black line (the rooster recessively carries duckwing)

Still not sure on what this girls color is, I'm thinking maybe platinum red incomplete ginger but I could very well be wrong. She's a cross between a splash rooster and silver ginger hen

This cockerel is out of the same crossing of lines, except his color is blue gold ginger. Still not sure if I'll keep him as he did initially molt out part of tail before growing his adult feathers, which tells me he'll most likely molt annually but I love his coloring

This pullet is also a mix of silver ginger and blue and is the same color

And finally, I'm really excited about this pullet. Her mother was an extreme feathered silver ginger and her dad a splash (The same cross, except on her you can really see the influence of the extreme feathering!)

Also forgot to say, all of these birds are 4 1/2-5 months old
