Our fun family has owned chickens almost a year now. Started with 17 from a hatchery and lost quite a few. Learned the hard way how to deal with hawks and raccoons. Now down to 6.

Luckily it's a new season and we have more chicks on the way

Hello from Kansas, MeyersFamFarm, and ! Great to have you aboard! Yep, predators are a constant companion to most chicken folks. Toss in coyotes with the two you mentioned and they are the big 3 for me. Hardware cloth, a dog with a hatred of 4-legged strangers in the yard, and eternal vigilance seem to work for me for keeping chicken off of their menu. lol I have a good bird dog and he leaves my chickens alone but he leaves coons alone and cats alone too.
