Disclaimer: this is all hypothetical, so it is illigal to possess either wild malards or their eggs. But what happens if a wild female mallard addops your flock and goes broody after mating with one of your ducks? Do you remove the eggs because there half domestic and violate the law surrounding wild ducks or let the eggs hatch and allow half domestic ducks to potentially enter the wild violating a separate law?

That is an interesting question.... can you check with your local wildlife center or DNR? I think honestly the chances of anyone noticing this, and reporting it, happening are rather slim. Many of those laws were created to protect the species from harm and most areas don't seem to bother as much with cases that don't involve harming the duck. Still, you never know.

I would think that it would not be desirable for “non-wild” duck DNA to enter the wild. The mixed offspring could potentially have an advantage over the wild population (size, number of eggs laid, etc.) and cause problems.
