Phobia of chickens

Welcome to BYC.
Why do you want chickens?
If you have a true phobia, and not just a fear, then you need to ask yourself whether you will be able to tend to them. Do you have someone to take care of them, if you can't?
Will your fear prevent you from carrying for them? If so, get treatment before considering getting chickens.
I'm not criticizing you, but I have a fear of rats. I'd never keep a rat as a pet, because I couldn't care for it. It would be irresponsible of me to buy one.
Because i love taking care of animals and like i said i want to conquer my fear. I am not scared of chicks so that's progress.

As a child, my only exposure to chickens was at a small local farmish-zoo (more like a modern day petting zoo but without the petting). The hen house was basically a gauntlet of loudly cackling hens on both sides, and my brothers would shove me through (similar to how they would push me onto manhole covers and storm-sewer grates whose tiny holes i was sure i'd fall through - i was a kid). I'd run through as fast as I could, ears covered, either crying or whimpering. In hindsight I really think it was the noise level that bothered me (I would also go to airshows with my dad at the same age, and while I loved watching the places, I often did so crying, with my ears covered).

Fast forward, last spring I figured "what the hell" and dove into the deep end. Got 6 baby chicks so it would be gradual. And now they are adults and I cannot believe how much I love them. Moral of the story: get them as babies, spend time with them, and you will have nothing to fear.

Hi all i am new here and i want to raise chickens but problem is i have a phobia of chickens. But i want to conquer my phobia of chickens. That's partly the reason i wanted chickens is to conquer my phobia. How do i conquer my fear. And i hope i am welcomed here.
Welcome to BYC!! Raising a chicken from a chick may help you get over your fear. Like some of the other breed mentioned, I find Barred Rocks very friendly lovable and good egg layers.
