In the Brooder
We have 4 girls that are truly family pets, they are between 12 weeks and 6 months old. During the day they get to free range in our backyard, which has a 7' block wall around it and almost a 1/2 acre in size. When the wife and I are gone they get locked up in their coop which is 8' x 25' and it is covered for shade and predators.
The last week or so the temps high been in the 90's and while it appears our girls are doing ok, they do appear to be hot! The two oldest 5 & 6 month old walk around with their mouths open and wings up. When free ranging, we have water scattered around for them and gentle breeze from a fan in their coop. What more should be do for our girls to get them prepared for the Phoenix summer??
We have tried what some have suggested, chilling watermelon, grapes, yogurt, but our girls just turn their noses. Anyone have ideas on how to beat the Phoenix heat??
Thanks in advance for any ideas!!
