I have two phoenix/polish cross cockerels that haven't grown out their tails yet. Does anyone have pictures of a longtail cross. I'm curious as to what to expect when my cockerels finally grow out their tails.

OK, this is a terrible photo, and Bucky is in the middle of a molt. He's lost all his tail feathers except for the two longest. I'm on my way to giving him a bath this morning. My son is holding him. He's a "Mixed Longtail." I don't know his parentage. I have another roo, Peeper, whose longest tail feathers are only half as long as Bucky's, so yours could end up with anything, being mixed.

Thank you for your posts. My phoenix hen raised a brood of 2 boys and 5 girls long after my phoenix rooster died. I had put the hen with my white crested black polish rooster. The young pullets and cockerels are close to sexual maturity, but the cockerels tails are incomplete. Right now all seven are black, long-legged, gangly, with a small crest; not at all pretty.

Bucky is beautiful and most unusual; love the appearance of the head and comb.
Thank you! I have to admit he's my favorite. Peeper (his brother) usually gets all the oohs and ahhs when I post his picture, but in real life, Bucky has the most gorgeous fire-red and rich mahogany reds (and greenish blacks) colors that just glow. He also is soft-feathered and is really soft to cuddle. He likes to sit on my lap and chill.
