Phoenix Showing Question

I already asked this in the Phoenix breed thread but I haven’t gotten an answer so I’ll ask in the exhibition section.
My BBR Phoenix cockerel was hatched in February so he’s nearing 7 months of age. He recently molted out his main tail feathers and is currently growing them in. His lesser sickle feathers are growing in beautifully and are already dragging on the ground but I recently had to pluck out one of his two main sickle feathers because it was split down the shaft. I was wondering how long it should take for it to grow out. I also plan on showing him March/April of 2019 and I was wondering if having a main sickle longer than the other would take away from his chances of possibly placing first.

Not an expert on the points and everything, but I'm sure he'd get points docked..
Nothing about it in the standard, though....? Would think it's a defect in cockerels and a DQ in cocks. Not sure, though.

So would you recommend I pluck out both of his main sickle feathers to allow that they come in at even lengths?

Probably (even though I dont like plucking)... especially since the show is so far down the road.

Or maybe just pluck the short one... It would probably catch up to the longer one.

I think I’d have to pluck out the long one then since I already plucked out the broken one about two weeks ago. I don’t think that the sickle would catch up since these feathers grow for God-knows how long so there’s a large probability of one being 2 ft longer than the other.
