Phone company RANT!

We have AT&T for our family's cells (3 of them) I have unlimited text messaging but pay per use internet.
I got a really cool new palm centro last year and wanted to DL a couple games to it... since it didn't come with any.
I down loaded 2 FREE games to it, solitaire and soduku. The next month I had about $34.00 charged to my bill. I called and asked why????? OMG WHYYY???
The operator explained the PAY PER USE internet had to be used to down load them --- UGH stupid me!

So I told her "well, ya got me THIS time, won't happen again!"

AT&T's service sucks in our area of Georgia, I can't wait to switch to a different carrier.

YES! You're right about that... I said the SERVICE sucks, not the billing.
When we moved into our house in November 2008 we all had 3-4 bars of reception on our phones.
About 4 months ago they changed something with the towers in our area
and now I am lucky IF I get 1-2 bars of reception in my house!!!

We don't have a land line and this is not good!!!
I stand by what I said before... AT&T's SERVICE SUCKS

Once I got charged for a adult entertainment site, apparently this one if you closed the box they billed you, after that I made sure my pop up filter stayed on all the time. Apparently it's legal to charge $90 for under a min, must be some good action;) Phoned the company and they erased the bill.

It's not the service- it's the coverage. Where we live there is no signal- with any cell company. Our local phone company is a co-op with ridiculously high rates- but we can't get anyone else. They are blocking all other companies from coming in. So- the other companies can't even do anything about improving coverage.
I have to pay 75 bucks a month for the slowest DSL! Can't use Vonage because I still have to pay a regular phone bill just to have internet. Our bill is almost 250 a month- with no perks!

I think you'll get it worked out EweSheep- it does sound like "slamming", and they should give you a credit.

Well, weather you call it service or coverage... it doesn't matter. I'm not going to bicker about the wording. My point to RabbitMage was that it wasn't my plan I was going to change, it was the company I am with.

I hope it does get resolved otherwise BBB will get an earful from me! After all, we pay for the internet services and quite happy with them. Then all of a sudden greed manifests itself! I thought Ameren IP was bad enough, but AT&T is getting on the bandwagon, needing MONEY. With all the third parties popping up all over the place, it makes me wonder!

I would love to know more about the company but my web server kept saying "Internet Exployer has failed" or Error. And I do not know WHY the phone company has to HAVE a third party like this one to slam people.

I hope I do not have to wait more than three months at the MOST for the charges. They better beef up security measures like mother's maiden name, cat's name, etc. or something that hackers cannot access to.

Unfortunately, The BBB won't do much. You need to contact the FTC, there's a utilities commission also. I'll see if I can dig up the links.

Here's some links to poke thru. I've also had this happen. The FTC helped handle the situation because they can do what the BBB can't. It will take some patience because the FTC can be a little slow. In my case, I was so fed up, and out for blood. I didn't care how long it took. The first link has an article about cramming which is what happened to you. It's illegal. Read it.

This link is a google of Utilities commission. Every State has one. You can also file complaints thru them, and get very fast results. I'm not sure where you live so you can take a peak at that or, go to your States web site and look it up from there also.
