We set a trap and hope to catch this mink that has killed a number of my chickens. It came in broad daylight this time. My girls are secure in coop at night and although I have 1/2 and 1/4 inch hardware cloth, it got in anyways (by door maybe?). Looking for any tips on dealing with minks and securing doors from minks sneaking in.

I had 3 guineas wiped out this morning, looked like the handiwork of a weasel. Went out tonight after dark to see if the culprit came back. Saw nothing but the dog was with me and was sniffing and checking the ground area around my 2nd guinea pen. I wasn’t paying her much mind when I heard a screeching noise and smelled an awful smell (similar to skunk) I quick flipped on the light and this is what I found

Wow... good dog!!

Any opening larger than 1/2" diameter is too big, and any tunnels underground are also easy access for weasels or rats. Fix everything, and keep your birds in a very safe area while it's all being repaired, or plan to loose them all.
You can trap and shoot this one, but more will come, if there's a way in for them.
