well.. I didn't really think I was qualified enough but, I guess you all can critique what we do and how different settings may work better and, of course, you could participate in the exercises.
EXERCISE #1 Composition. A beautiful composition can make an ordinary photo look like a work of art.
There are no rules to composition, only guides and extremely flexible principles that may help us to see more sensitively instead of in a hit or miss manner. The more aware we are of effective composition, the more satisfaction we may derive from photography. Learning to give form and balance by putting to-gether the elements harmoniously can help us see a subject in the strongest way. http://www.photographicartvictoria.com/composition.php
I thought it would be neat to all have different takes on the same idea so the only rule is your phone has to be the main subject. It could be your house phone or a cell. You could take the pics from any angle in any light with any background. Think about composition when you set the scene. Use color and balance objects in the scene to create a visually appealing image. Depth and angle will be two big factors in taking some interesting pics.
Have fun! Pics are due no later than midnight on Sunday. We'll critique everyone's photos and choose our favorites then. On Monday we'll do a new exercise and in the mean time some of our more seasoned photographers can maybe talk about the basics of things like aperture or silhouettes and they might be incorporated into our next lesson.
