Production Reds are sometimes a RIR outcrossed to a New Hampshire Red. They are many times sold as RIRs, I think, though Ideal Poultry sells RIRs and Production Reds separately. They are just high production egg layers. If you ever see a real breeder quality RIR, you'll see they are much darker and most of the time, much larger, too. I have three of those huge Amazon-hens and one hatchery RIR girl who is almost 4 years old. Enjoy her! She's a pretty girl.
