Hope it works out for you, I ate one of my old RIR's and it was nothing like the Cornish X I raised. Maybe the younger birds will taste better

LOL yeah I am not letting them get over 20 weeks, that is my max time limit before I am leary of the taste! We give them Meat Maker feed plus our own mix of chipped sunflower meats, wheat, and ground corn to get more protein and a little fat in there.

if it was possible I would have all roosters.. I love roosters. but it isn't so I try to have as many as I can safely have and humanely take care of.. I could never raise a chicken and the butcher it.. but I would rather eat chicken that was humanely raised than the chicken we get at grocery stores.

My upbringing was on a farm. It is a natural part of life for me to raise animals for food. I understand that for those who did not grow up with it, or for those with a tender heart, it is unthinkable, but for many of us it has been and always will be a part of life. I feel good teaching my children how to raise food in a happy and healthy environment, and teaching them about the circle of life, and how to respect their food source.

You say it so much nicer than me. I swear I've been in that basement too long already...
