(pic) Is this quail cage too tall?

Mine are in a cage 2 metres tall and a converted cubby house just a bit shorter. I don't think there is really any problem with being too tall???

They can be too tall... because the quail can fly up in panic and damage their heads on the top.

If the cage is low they can't get enough speed up to hurt themselves (normally).

If its very tall its also OK.

If you are concerned you can trim the quails flight feathers so they won't be able to fly up.

OR put a soft lining on the top.. like sponge or a fine net suspended a few inches below the solid roof.

According to what I've read, they loose so much momentum after about 5 feet, that they usually don't get seriously hurt from hitting a roof higher than that. But there is a genuinely dangerous are somewhere between 12 inches (and I even read a couple of accounts on here of quail getting hurt in 12-inch cages) and 5 feet.
I'm not a fan of cramping my quail in 12 inches and 5 feet simply takes too much room and materials, so I usually go for about 2 feet and pad the top :)
