I am in the process of incubating 8 chicken eggs. Its day 8 and I decided to candle them. I lucked out and all 8 are fertile! My rooster is doing his job. Anyway, I'm new at this and this is my first batch I've incubated. Here is a decent pic of one of my candled eggs. Its a good example of what to look for if you are new at it like me. The black dot at the top of the egg is the embryo. If you look closely you can start to see the blood vessels. Also on the right end of the egg whee you see a lighter "shade", that is the air pocket which the chick needs to breath air.

Awesome photo. Good for me as I'm about to start incubating next month. My first time as well. Thank you for this post.

The spider!:celebrate( For the first week or so the embryo looks like a spider inside the egg)
