Pick A Drake

Based on looks, which Silver Appleyard Drake would you keep? I’m not certain we will breed them, but I have four SA females and we may want to let them sit on eggs one day. Which of our boys has more desirable breed traits? They have similar personalities, so that’s not a deciding factor.

I’d probably get the one that is closest to the breeds show standards (which I don’t know at the moment).

I’m leaning Jack as well. His breast isn’t as red, but his wings are gorgeous white/grey.

I’m just not set up to deal with it if they fight. And I also have two Pekin females. Ideally, I’d separate them into two flocks: Roosevelt with the two Pekins not for breeding, and Jack with the four SA girls for breeding. But I’d rather send Roosevelt and the Pekins to another family so I don’t have to worry about any of this. I’m still trying to find them a place. People want the Pekins but not the drake, so I’ve been telling people I want them to go as a trio. They’re bonded.

Jack has good silver markings on his face. I would choose him.

I know everyone else says Jack... But I personally LOVE Roosevelt’s features!! But I know nothing about ducks so I’m not sure what the breed standards are.
