We went to the Urban Farm Store with then intention of getting one Golden Laced Polish chick to add to our flock. But after being told that they usually don't do well by themselves in the brooder and when being introduced to other chickens we decided to get her a buddy. I'm glad we did because we ended up with a Dorking, which from what I read is rather unique and rare. Both have settled down from their initial panicky peeps to more of a pleased whistle.

The majority of my chickens have come from the Urban Farm Store, as well. It's a great place, and my birds are all very healthy. I could easily buy chicks from either Coastal or Wilco here in town, but The Urban Farm Store is one of those places you just feel good about buying from.
Cute chickies BTW!

There are way too many

places to buy chicks in the Portland area. I have not checked out the Urban Farm Store. I will be getting chicks from a local breeder, some free ones from Coastal on Chick day, EE's from Livingscape (if they are still coming from Privett because I got 3 great ones last year), and 1 or 2 California White from Wilco. No need to be tempted by going to another store selling chicks that I don't "need" to go to.

Lucky you!! I went and looked at the Dorkings and they are beautiful birds. An Ancient breen and endangered, so you're doing a good thing to help keep this breed going. Darling little Fuzz Butts!!

Thanks everyone!

I agree. They're very helpful and pleasant people to deal with.

I'll have to check out all these places you guys are mentioning. I didn't really look around after finding the Urban Farm Store.

This pretty much sums up their top priorities right now.
