I'm building 2 chicken rotational pastures that are on next to my garden to help reduce the amount of fence I have to use. Currenty I'm using 3 foot welded wire fencing and the chickens stay in ther just fine but I have to get more fence to finish off the other pasture and fence off the garden. I know the pastures are not secure and the chickens will only have access to the pastures when I am home.

My choices are...

I pick up more 3 foot welded wire.

or

I have about 150 feet of 3 foot white picket fence that I can use. (got a great deal from someone getting rid of it)

I'm hesitant to use the picket fence because I'm worried that the chickens will fly up to the top of the picket fence and then get into the garden, neighbors yard and our yard. They can easily fly over 3 feet but they for some reason they don't try to on the welded wire. Maybe it is a depth perception thing?

What do you think I shoud use?
