Pickin' them off one by one

cupman...that is actually very unusal...most often raccoons wipe out several birds or the entire coop in attack...if they can get to it, they kill it. I have never seen a coon just kill one and come back the next night. Several BYCers lost birds last year to coons....and they lost as many as 10+ per night.

OP good luck finding out what is doing it....I would be lookig for a fox or an owl....outside chance of a coyote but more likely fox or owl.

completely agree a coon in the coop means complete carnage..... i remember going down to the coop at my grandparents house the night after a coon attack... 2 of 14 birds alive those who have had to deal with a coon in the coop can imagine what it looked like

I've got a similar problem. I've got Barred Owls around too. We enjoy seeing them around. Will the owls carry off a grown duck?

My last varmit attack a couple of weeks ago was a big male coon. He grabbed a guinea and took it to my little wet weather pond to eat it so he could dabble it in the water usually when the whole flock is attacked it,s mama coon and youngsters in training. The live trap and you know the rest of the story. Set the trap again that night caught nothing and fixed the pen of course. I've also had great horned owls pick them up without a squak or feather lose have a trap for them as well same ending.
