Picking up first ever meaty chicks tomorrow! All processed***PICS***

I used Purina Flock Raiser (20% protein) and left them with food 24/7. They are lazy birds, but even one of the hens did a funny little hop/fly thing the other day LOL
I really liked doing these in the winter - being in Fl it's not that cold - as apposed to the summer when I think the heat, flies and smell would have been really bad.

I won't do meaties in summer here in South Florida.. As much as I want to. Too hot and wet, not conducive to happy, healthy chicks.. plus it gives their pasture area a rest til fall, when it cools off and dries up..

Carol,
I'm kicking myself for not doing our own thread on our Poultry Club Meaties project..lol

It's not too late, there's still lots of fun left to be had and to report upon! Show your photos up to now, and let's keep adding to it!

By the time you process that 29th one, you will be so sick of it, you wont want to see or eat a chicken for the rest of your life.

Then you'll cook one.....

Then you'll wonder when you can get your next batch to do.
